In 2014 I visited a permaculture project in Malawi that remained in my memory as the most beautiful garden on earth. In the middle of the forest a few hardworking people had managed to create an idyllic garden where everything was arranged in perfect harmony, creating a breathtaking symphony of colours, scents, and sounds. Small ponds and streams running down, irrigating gently all the plants which were placed in stunning spirals and other creative shapes, disposed according to the principles of permaculture. Ananas, papayas, mangoes, fruits and vegetables of all possibles kinds and especially so many medicinal plants. This secret garden was simply heavenly, utopian, out of this world. A perfect synergy with nature, a dance, a spectacular celebration of life.

The memory of this garden has remained in me like an anchor. A firm and unwavering vision. The vision that the entire planet earth can become a paradise. This garden reminds me that it is important to keep visualising the possibility of a happy and pacified world. Society produces too many stories of apocalypse, almost as if pain and horror were more entertaining. Why aren’t we attracted and entertained by the possibility of heaven? Paradise does not have to be boring, paradise can be fun! We can rejoice and be excited in the idea of a world filled with bliss, joy and infinite possibilities of creation. But we need a vision, we need to see it, to imagine it, to feel it. Our cities can be filled with flowers, fruits and can become a garden in full bloom! The whole public space can become a safe playground for our children. We need examples and ideas to inspire humanity and to give us hope. The hope that we can truly create a paradise on earth, that we can all coexist in harmony, that we can rebuilt everything that has been damaged. The hope to start really living out of the state of survival, the hope and vision that we can develop to our full potential as human beings. Our present state of survival limits the possibilities of creation. I would like to built together visions of hope for this world, through practical examples and creative ideas, visions of paradise.
